School Lunches
The National School Lunch Program is being extended into the fall for all public schools. This means that school lunches are free at this time. Check the Howl each week for the link that provides the weekly lunch menu. These menus are posted a week in advance.
Place your order by Thursday of each week for the following week using this link: https://forms.gle/Kmxttpk15Dye5edGA
Pick up weekly lunch order on Mondays at the Explore Academy Masthead location.
If you live too far from Explore we are told that APS and RRPS are also offering seamless meals as long as your child is between 1 and 18 years of age. Parents/guardians can contact the school closest to them.

Mid-Year New Parent Orientation / Check-in
We want to thank everyone who attended our Mid-year Parent orientation / check-in last week. If you missed it, you can view the video on the Explore Academy Facebook page.
Attention Parents of Seniors
Due to the latest Health Order made by the Governor, all items (including senior t-shirts and senior picture proofs) will need to be picked up or dropped off (cap & gown orders) after Thanksgiving break. The Jostens online ordering system is also working now if you prefer not to wait to place your graduation order. If you have not yet taken your Senior photos, be sure to sign up for a spot on December 3rd when that form becomes available.
Lunch Order over Winter break
In an attempt to provide lunches over Winter break (December 21 - January 5) We will open up the lunch link on Friday, December 11. There will be up to 10 meal options to order which will cover the two week span. Five of those meals will be fresh and five meals will be frozen in order to keep for the second week. Pick up for these meals will be from 10:00AM -1 2:00 PM on Monday, December 21.
Exit Exams - Exit Exams for all grades will be held on December 17 and 18. All students will have exams in all their core classes and in some of the electives. It is very important that your student(s) attend classes on these days. Please notify the school as soon as possible if you know that your student will be absent. In this way we can work with the teachers to provide make-up times for the exams.
Passing Grades - We want to remind parents that in order to pass a seminar (class), students must achieve an 80% or better on all standards for each class for High School and must achieve a 70% or better in grades 6 and 7. It is possible that a student will not pass a seminar if they have one failing grade for one standard, but have a passing grade for all other standards.
Winter Break
Winter break will take place starting Monday, December 21 through Tuesday, January 5. Term 5 for HS and Quarter 3 for MS starts on Wednesday, January 6th. For the school academic calendar, click here.
Picture Order Update
If your child participated in one of our first picture days, their proofs will be sent to the school soon. You are no longer able to complete an online “pre-order” and will have to use the code that Lifetouch provides you on the proof sheet for any pictures you would like to order. Proofs will be available for pickup after Thanksgiving Break.

Engage New Mexico
What is ENGAGE New Mexico? For many students, going from a traditional classroom to learning from home can be a real challenge. New Mexico’s Public Education Department has partnered with Graduation Alliance to provide an extra layer of support for students in grades k-12 and their families who might be struggling with these changes. Students who choose to participate in the program will get an academic coach to work with them to answer questions, connect them with resources, and develop a plan to get on track and finish the school year strong.
How does it work? Graduation Alliance is reaching out to students through phone calls, emails, text messages and more to get students started.
What does it cost? There is no cost for the student. ENGAGE New Mexico is completely free to students.
How do I enroll? Explore Academy will be referring students to Engage New Mexico who have low attendance, or who have failed a large number of classes during Terms 1 & 2. Parents who would like to refer their child can go to ParentsNM.GraduationAlliance.com, call 505-340-3250, or email EngageNM@GraduationAlliance.com to get started.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
